As a reader there’s nothing more delightful than to find good writing that connects me to the writer in this way. To find truth in another’s experience, that speaks to me personally, binds me mysteriously to the unknown author.

Now that I write professionally those words mean more than ever. In ghostwriting it is the highest possible compliment I can receive; in my own stories all words put on paper strive to communicate this as creatively as possible.

It boils down to one thing….to tell the truth, creatively and in a way that engages the reader. And that’s not just for non-fiction. Even the fiction writer must create authentic characters to succeed in reaching their audience; there must be truth in a fictional character’s words and actions.
